I grew up with Wayne in Stratford and kept in touch with him for many years. I lost touch with him whenhe moved to Essex and it was only about a year ago that I located him. Have really enjoyed the conversations we have had over that year and was hard for me knowing what he had beed going through with his health and losing his wife. I called him about every 2 weeks after he relocated toTechemsehand the rest home. We both enjoyed our talks then and I shall always cherish the fond memories that I have of Wayne. I sent him a photo not too long ago of he and I as children in Stratford and he really got a kick out of that.  Bye for now Wayne.

I always looked forward to Art class with Mr Kant at Gosfield North.  He was a wonderful teacher, so creative.
He is remembered very fondly when I think back to 5th grade!

Sorry to hear of Mr. Kant's passing.  Mr. Kant was my grade 5 teacher and left enough of an impression that part of how I relate to my students is likely modeled after the way he related to us.

My wife and I offer our sincere condolences to Bruce and Carol and family.
I have wonderful memories of my visits to Stratford as a young boy to visit my cousins Wayne and his brother Bruce.  We had such fun.  For those of you who would not have known Wayne as a young man, he was quite a pool player.  He loved his teaching profession and was a devoted husband to Evelyn. 
He will be greatly missed.

Where to begin. There are so many wonderful things that can be said about how wonderful of a teacher and person Wayne was. My sisters and I all had Mr. Kant as a teacher and we all had great experiences with him. Teaching was not a career for him, it was a lifestyle, one in which he excelled at greatly. I can draw funny faces and waterfalls almost perfectly all thanks to his persistence. I'm glad I got a chance to visit with Mr. Kant not too long ago. I will cherish those moments. I will do my best to honour Mr. Kant by incorporating his teaching methods and enthusiasm into my own classroom. My deepest condolences to his sons.

I taught with Wayne at Gosfield for many years and he accompanied me on our Toronto band exchange trips....great fun! Great hot tub memories from his house. Wayne taught beside my music room and I was always in awe of the incredible art work being encouraged by Wayne. When he taught SK in there, it was obvious he could see the world through the eyes of a 5 year and they ate it up! My sympathies to Dave and Jeff.

So sad to hear about Mr. Kant passing. Gosfield was most definitely lucky to have such great educators as he was one of the top. My condolences to the boys and family.

Such a loss - Mr.Kant was a incredible teacher and has left me with so many wonderful memories of childhood.  He was a warm welcome to me as a new student many years ago.

Trying not to be sad about this news, I know the last thing he would want is all of us sad! Mr. Kant was such a bright spot and such a guiding & happy influence growing up at Gosfield North.  His class was ALWAYS my favorite, he was always so happy, he made learning so much fun - he was such a talented man in his own right as an artist and I feel so lucky to have been a part of his life at Gosfield.  I also had Mrs Kant as a teacher, I just feel so lucky to have known them both so well.  I'm sorry to see him go but happy that him and his lovely wife are together again.

Sending my love to his boys during this difficult time.  Please take comfort in knowing how overwhelmingly loved both your parents are - they helped shape so many of us county kids into the wonderful people we are today.  We are all a little bit better people because of them both.

Mr. Kant was by far my favourite teacher I ever had. He taught me in grade four and then art class all throughout the rest of grade school. I have thought of him many times. He read our grade four class 'The Hobbit' and instilled a deep love for reading in me. My deepest condolences to the Kant family.

Mr. Kant was one of my favourite teachers.  He made learning fun.  Often times that meant adding silly voices to the books we were reading to keep them interesting or just stopping in the middle of class for a quick doodle lesson. To this day I still draw my pumpkins and cartoon characters the same way.   

This world lost a gem of a man in losing him.   However he will never be forgotten.  

Rest in peace Mr Kant.  May your canvas never be empty again.   

To the family take solace in knowing how many live were touched by him.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you travel though this difficult road.

So sad to hear of Mr. Kant's passing. He was definitely one of the best teachers I had at Gosfield North! I was lucky enough to have been taught by his wife as well...may they rest peacefully together. My thoughts and prayers are with his sons and family during this difficult time.

His kindness and sense of humour always made us feel safe and loved. He was inspiring teacher and wonderful person.

Wayne Kant was an excellent teacher and a good man.

He inspired so many of us to be better than we thought we could be. His attitude towards learning and making it a fun experience instead of a chore was a rare thing and will be greatly missed.

I owe him a lot for introducing me to worlds I might never have found for myself.

I will never ever forget all the great stuff you taught and did for David and I when we we're growing up. You were a great father and man and made a huge impact In many lives. It was honour to know you. Rest in peace,Wayne you and Evelyn were the best!

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Kant.  I have so many fond memories of him as my art teacher many, many years ago at Gosfield.  To this day, as I doodle pictures for my daughter, I still think of him.  For a teacher to leave that kind of lasting impression on a student, 25 years later....that shows what a special kind of person he was, and the amazing gift he had.  Mr. K will live on in the hearts and minds of all whose lives he touched.  Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Hands down, one of the best teachers, let alone art teachers I ever had. He nurtured the faintest spark of creativity into a flame in kids who hadn't known that about themselves before. Thank you Mr. Kant for your influence in fostering my life long love of art and drawing. My condolences to Jeff and Dave and family.

I had the privilege of working with Wayne at A.V.Graham P.S. for many years. He was always an inspiration to his students particularly in the world of artistic expression. A wonderful teacher and supportive staff member who was a real team player! He will be missed by many who knew him!

Kant family:
Mr Kant wasn't actually my teacher as I was in the class next door. But I did have many occasions to interact with him and he was a wonderful, funny, thoughtful man. He will be missed greatly as a spouse, father, brother, friend and teacher to all who knew him.

its really hard to say goobye especially to loved ones but saying goodbye to an amazing teacher whos made a HUGE impact on my life is even harder....Mr. Kant you have ALWAYS made me laugh and put a smile on my face even when i was having a bad day. you have taught me MANY things about painting, drawing and just art in general i loved and enjoyed ALL the stories you have told and shared while i was in your SK class and all the other classes i had with you. I have SO MANY amazing and fun memories with you  that i don't think i'd be able to share them all i will surely cherrish each and EVERY last one of them and NEVER forget them as well. one memory that i will NEVER forget was the time you brought your tent to class and set it up in the room and we all had a pretend campfire and sat around the pretend fire you had made and told us stories and sang campfire songs too THAT was the best day of my life!! its really sad to hear that your gone i wish i could have seen you again one last time. 

you were someone i looked up to as a teacher
and adult figure in my life but most of all.....you will ALWAYS be......my hero!

Very sorry for the families loss. Wayne was an exceptional person, a great teacher and a great mentor to many students.  He will be remembered for his kindness, his fun stories, his quirky songs and his love of art.  My 3 kids enjoyed having him as a teacher and still talk about his classes to this day. He will always be remembered with fondness.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Wayne.  He was a good friend and teaching partner at Gosfield North. His love of teaching art had a positive effect on all that were lucky enough to be in his class. Camping adventures were a highlight of my teaching time with him. He will be missed.

Wow!!!  This saddens me too. I clearly remember and still share the stories, with my Grade seven students, of the fear and excitement in phys ed class playing dodgeball with the one and only, MR KANT!!  ....he would play the whole class against himself and lord ..... Look out when he got the ball..... I would sweat  profusely and try to crawl up the walls or hide in corners to get out of his sight..... Laughing so hard every minute!!!   ...... He could hit your feet with that ball so perfect.....he would knock your feet right out from under you as you ran for your life!!!!  We always got up laughing!!!!  I swear he is one of my greatest elementary school memories!!!  My deepest condolences to the family.  Always so sad to hear of our elementary teachers passing.  :(

Good byes are one of the hardest things to do because it makes everything final. I don't know how I can say good bye when you have brought so many smiles to my face. Your songs and sayings will always be remembered and your art work inspired so many of us. You have wiped away tears, mud and paint from my face and always made me laugh. You wrote a book about me and how I did not know how to use paint and how messy I was. You made me feel special in a time my life when my world was falling apart. You taught me so much in 9 years of school and touched my life forever. R.I.P MR.KANT!!! You will be missed but never forgotten
