It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing away of Adolf Jung, aged 89, at St. Boniface Hospital.
Adolf leaves his beloved wife Margaret of 60 years, sons Randy (Heather) and Howard, grandsons Alexander and Cameron, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Mike, and many nephews, nieces and friends in Canada and Germany.
Adolf was predeceased by his mother Juliana, father Peter and brother Heinrich.
Adolf was born in Unterwalden, Poland on November 8, 1923. In his youth he had a passion for outdoor activities especially skiing and soccer. He also had a talent for building, constantly being busy constructing projects such as a homemade pair of skis and toys for his younger brother. As a postwar refugee Adolf was separated from his family and decided to immigrate to Winnipeg with the support of his cousin Carl Brennenstuhl who was already living in Winnipeg. After arriving in Winnipeg he renewed acquaintances with Margaret and they were married in 1952. The early years in Winnipeg were challenging for Adolf but with his hard work ethic and a desire to build a home for his family he overcame these obstacles. Adolf started his working career as a cabinet maker for Selkirk Cabinet rising to the position of plant manager before his retirement. Never one to remain idle Adolf would also build houses with his brother-in-law Mike Ambach. Even in his retirement Adolf continued to build houses and woodworking projects for both family and friends. Adolf always treasured time with his family especially his grandsons Alexander and Cameron. Opa always enjoyed his walks with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the German Congress. The family would like to thank Dr. John Rabson for the care he provided Adolf during his lifelong struggle with heart disease. The family also wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses of the Palliative Care Ward of St. Boniface Hospital for the care and tenderness they showed Adolf in his final days.
