A. RUBY SPENCEPeacefully on Monday, September 28, 2009 in Grace Hospital at the age of 97 years.Predeceased by her husband Bert; her parents; one brother, Joe (Alma); 4 sisters, Ann (Matt), Bea (Bill), Doris (Jim), Ethel (Ted), and one brother-in-law Jack Sr. and nephew Jack Jr.Left to cherish her memory, her daughter Janis (Rick); grandchildren Jana (Graham), Steven (Denise); great grandchild Jonathan; sister Gwen and many nieces and nephews.Mom was born in Winnipeg on August 15, 1912, a proud Winnipeger. She served in World War II and worked at Toronto Dominion Bank as a stenographer. She was considered as the family “Historian”. Mom loved her family dearly, was always ready to play Bingo and had a soft spot in her heart for all animals, especially cats.A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion.In lieu of flowers donations in Ruby’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9.
