Complications of his ongoing battle with COPD and Diabetes took his life rather unexpectedly.
However, his last few months were enjoyed to the fullest, heading out of his care facility for many family adventures such as: steak and lobster at Rae & Jerry’s; butterflies, and flowers at The Leaf; getting a hole in one on the putting green at the Golf Dome; his grandsons’ birthday celebration at the Kupchuk’s backyard pool; and horse racing at the Assiniboia Downs!
Alex was born in Rhein Saskatchewan and spent his early childhood in Ignace Ontario. He began working for Canadian Pacific Railway at the age of 14. He moved to Kenora, Ontario about a year later. He was proud that he had worked for CPRail for 40 years and held many positions available during that time.
While on an unexpected extended stay in Acapulco Mexico he met his beloved wife Concepcion Chepil. August 18th would have been
their 50th wedding anniversary and Alex’s 89th birthday! In his early
retirement years, he enjoyed golf, photography and gardening. A lower back
injury in 2007 left him unable to walk and as a result became a resident at Pinecrest Home For the Aged where his loving wife Connie, spent every evening tending to and caring for him until her own health declined and she
passed in January of 2022
Alex was predeceased by father Stephen Chepil, mother Margret Stella Chepil, his wife Connie Chepil, brothers Art Krawicki and Bruce Krawicki. Alex will be missed. Alex leaves behind: Sister Vivian, Brother Gerry, Daughters Devora, Susan and Nancy, Sons Fausto, and David. He is now joining his beloved wife Concepcion “Conchita”.
Alex will be honoured in a celebration of life at a small private event by invitation only.
In honour of Alex, donations to Canadian Diabetes in lieu of flowers can be made.
