Mom will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her 5 children, Kathie (Jim), Debbie (Tim), Danny, Jeff (Lori), Mandy (Gerry) and also her 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren Shannon, Matthew & Bobbie (Michael), Kristy & Owen, Christopher, Ashley & Paul (Carter, Celina ,Camron), Janessa & Todd (Colten, Brayden), Andrew (Colby, Leon), Mackenzie, Benjamin & Allie, Kyle and Bradley.
Mom is survived by her sisters and Brothers in law, Dora Houlden, Frieda (Gordie) Hunt, Phyllis Arnfinson, Nelson Klyne, Ernest Klyne, and Bill Smith plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Mom was born to Christopher and Amanda Lambert on February 23, 1935 in St. Laurent, MB Mom spent many of her early years helping her Mother take care of the family and the homestead. She and Dad met when they were very young and fell in love got married on June 1, 1957. Mom discovered her talent for singing and playing the guitar and started a little band with our Dad. They entertained all over Manitoba and Mom was a wonderful “self taught” singer and guitarist. These memories were always referred to as the “good ole days” when Mom and Dad would reminisce about their younger years. Mom was an entrepreneur before that was even a thing, doing many jobs from home such as ironing clothes, knitting and crocheting many wonderful creations such as slippers and doilies. She was an excellent cook and taught all us kids many tricks and tips to recreate her amazing signature dishes. Mom had many different jobs and hobbies but she was so proud of being a Pink Lady courier with Northern Messenger in the 80’s. She would drive her little white car with the pink lady decals around Winnipeg and she knew every short cut and back road to get to and from the fastest even without Google maps.
Mom enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with her singing, guitar playing, cooking, card playing, and her beautiful smile that will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her. She also loved camping and fishing and spent many years with Dad taking our family on many camping and fishing adventures.
As per our Mother’s wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be placed to rest in the niche with our Father in the Serenity Room at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home at a later date. We will have a Celebration of Life at the Southeast Personal Care Home in the spring of 2026, date to be determined.
Mom’s final days were long and hard for us all and we would have never been able to get through some of those long days and nights without the constant support and compassion shown to her and all of us at her bedside by the wonderful staff from Southeast PCH. You made Lulu’s final days as comfortable for her as possible and provided care to all of us as well and we will forever be grateful for all the love and support from all the staff that were with us everyday. A huge thank you to Linda Maude who provided lots of support and care to our Lulu during her lonely evenings after Dad left us, Linda was a wonderful friend to our Lulu and she loved her just as much as we all did.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southeast Personal Care Home 1265 Lee Blvd, Winnipeg, MB in memory of Louise Klyne or The Alzheimers Society of MB at https://alzheimersocietyinmemoriam.crowdchange.ca/page/amandacostello
