She is survived by daughter Patricia DiPietro (Aldo); son Cameron (Lois); and grandchildren Adrien DiPietro and Diana Gilles (Tim), Jennifer Turnbull (Chris), Mark Macdonnell (Jacinta), James Macdonnell (Sarah-Lynn) and Peter Macdonnell; great-grandchildren Brandon and Sarah Gilles, Andrew and Amelia Macdonnell, Gianna DiPietro; sister-in-law Margret Smith (Scotsburn, NS) and Dennis Gurnhill (Morrisburg, ON).
She was predeceased by her husband Melville of 49 years;, parents Donald and Anna Smith; sisters Inez Gurnhill, Patricia Morrison (Ellie); brothers Harold (Elva) and Ronald Smith.
Born and raised in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Trained at the Foundling Hospital in Montreal 1943-45 where she met the love of her life, Mel and were married September 1945.
After the war moved to Souris Manitoba, Baldur MB, Glenboro MB, Shoal Lake MB, Strasbourg SK, Atikokan ON, Rivers MB, Thunder Bay ON, Winnipeg MB, retired to Smith's Falls ON, Pictou NS, Winnipeg MB.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “in the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
