Anne Caroline Mankewicz

It is with sadness that the daughters of Anne Mankewicz announce the passing of their Mother on September 6, 2026 at the age of 99 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Nicole (Fred) Nicholson and Cathy(Denis) Robidoux as well as grandsons: Matthew, Jared (Shawna), Evan (Gina) Nicholson and Daniel (Karlee)Robidoux. Anne will also be missed by her great-grandchildren: Karis, Kayla, Hunter and Gabriella.

Anne was predeceased by her husband John Mankewicz, their newborn son, who died shortly after birth, daughter Teresa and her parents Herman and Lena Kotschorek. As well as all of her siblings and their spouses.

Anne was born on February 28, 1927 in the R.M. of MacDonald. She grew up on the Family farm, which was located along the LaSalle River near Sanford, Manitoba. As the youngest child in her family Anne laboured long hours helping her father on the farm. This was especially true after her sisters, Molly and Mary, married and

moved away and her brother, John, was off to Europe to fight in WWII. She also worked in the mail order department at Eaton's.

Anne and John married on May 6, 1952. Their first home was a small house on Bessboro Street in Fort Whyte. (now Whyte Ridge). Their next home was at 1048 Manahan Avenue and the reason for moving; “the twins” were on their way, it was 1960. Anne spent the remainder of their 57 year marriage in this home.

Anne was a energetic and social person as well as a devout Catholic and parishioner at St. Vital Parish. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League, a member of the 9 o'clock choir, and volunteered in other capacities at her parish. She enjoyed sports, 5 pin bowling was her favourite and she was a pro at it. So much so that more shelves had to be built to hold all the trophies. She also played baseball with the 55+ league well into her 60's.

In the early eighties Anne realized a lifelong dream: travel to Europe. Her love of travel endured and many other adventures were had. Whether it was a bus trip to Nashville with Doris and Ray or a cruise to Hawaii with Aggie she always came back with stories and smiles.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11 am at The Parish of St. Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Road, Winnipeg. MB, celebrated by Fr. Brian Trueman.

Interment at Thomson “In the Park” Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Winnipeg will follow the reception.

Cathy and Nicole wish to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge. Thank you for the kindness and care you gave Mom and for the support you so generously offered us.
