With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Anthony (Tony) Castelli on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the age of 54.
Tony was predeceased by his mother Giovina Castelli. He leaves behind to mourn; his loving father Mario Castelli, sister Emilia (William), brother Victor, many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends, all of whom loved him dearly.
Born in Winnipeg on May 3, 1972, Tony grew up in the West End of the city; a place he often spoke about with great fondness. He cherished the memories he made there and developed a lifelong love of sports, especially hockey, soccer and later golf.
Tony began his career at George’s Burger’s on St. Anne’s, working for his uncle Theo George at the age of 16. Through hard work, dedication and deep commitment to his family. He eventually became the owner of the Ness Ave. George’s Burgers location.
More than a successful restauranteur who took pride in his business, his greatest accomplishment was how he became the heart of the community. Through his warm smile, generous spirit and genuine kindness, he made everyone who walked through his doors feel like family; inspiring love and respect by all. To many, Tony wasn’t just the owner of the George’s Burgers and Subs on Ness – he was a friend, a familiar face, and someone who made every customer feel welcome.
Though the time with us was far too short, your laughter and your smile will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you, Tony, for being such an important part of our lives.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many healthcare professionals who cared for Tony with such compassion and dedication.
A funeral service will take place on July 28, 2026, at Holy Rosary Church. Prayers at 10:00 am followed by mass at 11:00 . Interment will take place at Thomson “In the Park” Cemetery at 12:30 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life reception in the funeral home.
