Arthur William Strachan, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025 at the age of 81.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Heike (nee Linnebach), his parents, Frank & Christine Strachan, and his sister, Linda Strachan. He is lovingly remembered by his family; daughter,
Kim (John), grandchildren—Andrew, Liam (Glory), Christian & Gabrielle and great grandson, William, brother, Peter (Margaret) & family, Susan (Peter), Scott, Georgia & Gabriel, as well as the Linnebach family, and friends whose lives he touched with his gentle spirit.
Art grew up in the West End of Winnipeg. His administrative career with Agriculture Canada spanned across 3 provinces of Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Art enjoyed many sports, but hockey remained his favourite—especially cheering on the Winnipeg Jets. He also had a great sense of humour, loved animals and loved music. Singing brought him great joy and he sang tenor in many Barbershop groups throughout the years. He also treasured time at the family cabin at Grand Beach. The last 3 years were spent in Gimli to be close to his daughter and grandchildren. Above all, he was a wise man of quiet faith, remembered for his fairness, generosity and patient, thoughtful listening.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Gimli Hospital and Dialysis Unit for their kindness and compassionate care.
In keeping with Art’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
On Eagle’s Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
Who abide in His shadow for life
Say to the Lord, “My refuge, my rock in whom I trust!”
And he will raise you up on eagles’ wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
