Barbara Lynn Donald passed away peacefully in her home. Left in mourning are her two sons Brett (Alison) and Chris (Kristin), her grandchildren Jadyn, Jacob, Brianna and Chyanne. She also leaves behind her brothers Barry (Lynn) and John (Catherine), her sisters in-law Brenda (Gary) and Lori (Frank), numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Barb is predeceased by her parents Leonard and Gladys Blanco, her brother Len and her beloved daughter Reagan.
Barb grew up in the Lord Roberts area of Winnipeg where she would spend most of her free time with her future sisters in-law and her husband to be. She worked numerous jobs in her younger years, starting as a carhop at the A&W then later as a cashier for Park Theatre and also as a pediatric dental assistant. In her later years, she moved on to become a cashier at Safeway, a courier driver for Carpit, and finally retired from her career with Canada Post after 16 years of service. As fulfilling as her work was over the years, nothing came close to Barbs passion and commitment to her family.
In her early 20’s, Barb moved to Vancouver for one year, but missing her family terribly she made her way back home to Winnipeg and married the boy across the street. Blake and Barb had three children Brett, Chris and Reagan. Barb’s priority in life was being the most dedicated, loving and hard working mom. Barb’s absolute joy in life was attending the children’s sporting events, endless hours of baking with and for them, designing and sewing their Halloween costumes. Her love of animals and gardening was heartwarming. From the family dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and chinchilla to the wild humming birds she most recently fell in love with.
Summers at the Grand Marais cabin were always great fun with the whole extended family spending the day at the beach with a family BBQ to end the night. Barb loved family dinners and always insisted on continuing that tradition over the years as the family grew. Nana loved having her grandchildren over and she continued to bake, craft and sew with them. The entire family was always gifted with her famous Christmas dainties, beautiful hand sewn blankets and most recently, face masks!
We will forever love and miss you Barbara, Mom, Nana, Barbie. You would often speak of Reagan coming to you in your dreams; we hope your dreams have come true.
