With great sadness the family said goodbye to Colin on Sunday, May 19, 2019. He is forever remembered by his wife and best friend, Lynne, daughter Carol (Darren), son Guy (Nancy) and step- daughters, Cindy (Dave), Kathryn (Scott) and Andrea (Lorne), 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Henry and sisters Hilda, Diane and Theresa.
Colin worked in the commercial plumbing industry most of his life. He founded and operated Colin’s Mechanical Service Ltd. for 10 years. He sold the business, travelled for a year then moved to Alberta. He was the Maintenance Superintendent for Cargill Foods until retirement.
Over the retirement years the children often referred to Colin and Lynne as the “gypsies” as they moved often. Winters never varied. They were spent with their “Riverwoods Family” in Estero, Florida. Colin so enjoyed bocce, bowling, chorus and the ukulele group to list a few. He believed in sharing his time and talents with others and was always willing to help.
Colin was passionate about his relationship with God. He prayed daily and anyone asking for prayers was always added to the list. He never forgot. God gave him a beautiful singing voice which he shared with many choirs. He believed that we were here to help others and he did so without reservation. He was known as a gentle man to his friends. Colin is now in Heaven.
Special thank you to: Bridgette of Palliative Care, Ste. Anne Home Care and Dr. J. Allen for the loving care Colin and the family received.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10:30 am at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 505 Brewster St, Winnipeg.
