

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Allan Cairns, who lost his battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, on February 21st, 2025, in Winnipeg at the age of 56.
He was born on April 2nd, 1968. David leaves behind his beloved step-children: Brittany Mancini, Alyshea Mancini (Bruno) and son Miguel, Kyo and Jasmine Larose, and grandchildren Jayden and Jordan Botelho. He is also survived by his sister Judy Deepe (Mark), brother Ian Cairns, and the Barrie family, as well as nephews Christian Deepe and Brady McIvor. David was predeceased by his parents: Robert A. Cairns and MaryJane Cairns (née Sterling).
David lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He worked in various courier, international truck driving and dispatching roles. He enjoyed a 25 year career with Parsec International as Terminal Manager CP Rail Intermodal. David’s dedication and passion for the work and his employees were evident in so many ways. One of his greatest passions was for Gull Lake where he had grown up as a child enjoying all that the lake life offered. He became an active participant and leader in the community. His efforts in preserving the lake water quality and especially successfully combating the spread of Zebra mussels is his legacy.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Manitoba Cancer Care, especially Dr. Beshara, and nurses Virginia and Kim, for their compassionate care during David’s journey. Special thanks are also extended to Grant and Cathie Bolin for their consistent support and care.
A funeral service will be held on March 6th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. There will be a private family interment at a later date.
David’s warmth, integrity, and dedication to his family, friends, and community will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in David’s memory.
