Derek was my childhood friend, a flood of memories keep crashing, coming back like yesterday. Always kind, caring, decent and so humble. For those who are fortunate enough to have such friends, honor them, cherish them, hold them close to your heart, they are rare possessions. To honor him, let us practice what he taught us: compassion, gratitude, humility and kindness.
Again, my deepest sympathies. May God unfailing grace brings you peace and comfort in this time of grief.

Memories of Cha Cha Deo. 1. First to allow me to steer his car at age 5. 2. Showed me how  to open a locked car, using my tiny hands with me laying on top of the car..3. Introduced me to the game of badminton. 4. He was able to compete in sprint races with the youths ( Seon, Royston, Romeo, Derrek and myself) at Vigilance, 5. First person ( for me ) to ask for " a piece of knife " to cut a peice of cake..( he was even bemused by what he said). 6. First person to have taken me to the Planetarium in Winnipeg.

Satyam Shivam Sundaram were Deo's motto. His many acts of kindness easily qualify as 'niskaam bhakt, His nana Sadhu Narine Pirtam and Aaja Pt Bhajan Dabee were not only real life role models but champions of the downtrodden,  Deo lived a life for many of us  in authentic Gandhian persona of 'shantih' thru bharatiya vidya!

With heavy hearts we mourn the sudden loss of our beloved brother in law and uncle. It is difficult to find words to express the sadness of losing someone so dear. You will always hold a special place in our hearts and all the wonderful memories we shared will forever live in our hearts.
May God give Sandy, Daniel, Vive and your siblings strength and comfort during this extremely difficult time. You will be deeply missed and may your soul rest in eternal peace 🕊 🙏

A brother in law and true friend of his community has departed.
Endowed with a personality that oozes warmth and friendliness, Derek unconsciously attracts attention. With him, a new contact never ends with a quick 'hi or 'hello'. An enduring relationship usually follows. No wonder his resume is highlighted with such an impressive record of service to the community.
He will be sorely missed by all.
May his good soul rest in peace.

Derek Dabee was a good friend of mine. We worked together at the Maples Community Centre.  We shared a mutual understanding about providing volunteer services to the  Maples Community Centre. On behalf of Maples Senior Indo Canadian Society Inc. we will miss his warm personality and guidance.

We are so heartbroken, loss for words and sadden when we heard the news of Derek’s passing. He was one of the great guys with so much more to offer to his neighborhood, community, city, province and country. 

We played a lot of cricket back in the 1980s and early 1990s. Derek was a constant figure at Assiniboine Park back in those days and he was a student of the game always trying to learn new things about the game.

Our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to Sandy, Vivi, Daniel and all his loved ones, family and friends.

For all his time in Winnipeg (probably over 40 years), Derek continuously served the Guyanese community individually and through the Guyanese affiliated organizations.  All of us, past and current residents, of Winnipeg, benefited from his service.  He will be missed but not forgotten.

I remember volunteering for him to hand out flyers for the voting season, he is such a nice person and i am glad i got the opportunity to get to know him.. Sending my love and condolences to his family and friends!

At this time of grief and sadness, I express my Deepest sympathies to Derek's Family and Friends. Derek was a hard working man, who lived ethically; and showed Great Respect and Compassion for others. Though he is no longer with us, his dedicated work, will improve the lives of others.
