

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on May 9th, 2026 of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend
Duot was born on February 27th, 2003 in Kakuma, Kenya with a bright spirit, a kind heart, and a determination that touched everyone who knew him. Coming to Canada at the age of 2. Where he grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, He attended Donwood Elementary School and Chief Peguis Junior High before graduating from Kildonan East Collegiate in 2021. At the time of his passing, he was studying Business Administration at Red River College, working toward a future filled with promise and opportunity.
From a young age, Duot had a passion for sports, competition, adventure, and exploring the world around him. He was actively involved in numerous athletic programs throughout the years, including the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy and Crossover Basketball Club. Whether on the court, on the ice, in the field or supporting his teammates, Duot brought dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm to everything he did. Beyond sports, he loved spending time outdoors and embraced every opportunity to travel and experience new places. Whether he was enjoying nature or making memories on trips with friends, he approached life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for the experiences it had to offer.
Beyond his achievements, Duot will be remembered most for the person he was. He had a smile that could brighten a room, a sense of humour that brought laughter to those around him, and a presence that made family and friends feel valued and loved. He shared a special bond with those closest to him and leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured forever.
Though his time with us was far too short, Duot’s impact was immeasurable. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his friends, classmates, teammates, and his loving family: his parents, Abraham Dau Tor and Achol Makeer Guluak; his siblings, Apat Tor, Gai Tor, Adau Tor, Nyandeng Tor, and Tor Tor; his nieces and nephews, Jok Thon, Achuei Thon, Berech Chol Aruei, Aruei Chol Aruei, and Awur Chol Aruei; as well as his extended family and all those whose lives he touched.
