Edith was a loving grandmother, mother, wife and friend. She was a housewife for the early years of her marriage. Raising two boys meant going out into the field, shagging flies to them, or tossing the football. As the boys grew older, she decided to go and work to fill her day. She loved working at Josten's until her retirement. Her passion was being with people and being busy. She was an active participant at her church and was a member of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, as well as a very active member of the neighbourhood senior center. She was always busy making pyrohi and holopchi for bake sales and family gatherings, as well as helping these groups with dinners and other events. Summers were spent at the family cabin near Twin Beaches outside St Laurent, with days at the beach with family and friends, and evenings around the campfire. Even after moving to Harmony Court Supportive Living, she always wanted to help the staff, either by setting tables or cleaning up after meals. As a grandmother, she never hesitated to get down and crawl around to play with her grandkids, often being available especially when daycare was closed or the grandkids were sick. The grandkids often pretended to be sick to instead go to Gramma's. She will be missed.
Mass will be held at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tuesday, Jan 14th at 11:00 am. located at 40 Ada Street. Lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
