IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Remembered with love

It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend on August 31, 2021, after a short battle with cancer.

Edithe will be lovingly remembered by her son Keith Schinkel (Armelle), grandchildren Jérémie and Annika, siblings Irène Gendron, Lorraine (Garry Hamilton), Daniel, Lilliane Van de Kerckhove, Benoit (Denise), Gérald, Camille (Margaret), Denis (Mariette), Estelle (Ned Funk), Jocelyn (Normand Lemoine), Carmelle (Gilles Meilleur), Rosita (Ben Bouchard), brother-in-law Don Masse (Louise), and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Edithe was predeceased by her son Scott Schinkel, parents Frederic and Alice, sisters Anne Marie, Thérèse, and Gisèle, and brothers-in-law Maurice Gendron, and Roland Van de Kerckhove.

Edithe had a gift for truly listening to people combined with a caring and empathic spirit and could always be counted on whenever anyone needed help or someone to talk to. Her patient and warm demeanor made people feel welcome and loved and earned her many close friends.

She took great comfort in her large family and loved spending time with them whether during family reunions, sister getaways, or one-on-one coffee dates. One of Edithe’s greatest joys was spending time with her two grandchildren who never ceased to bring a smile to her face. She loved spoiling them with little gifts for every occasion.

Edithe made a positive impact on so many people and her patience, warmth, strength, and compassion will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for the care provided to Edithe throughout her illness.

Due to COVID19 restrictions, attendance is by invitation only. For those that would like to attend virtually please follow this link: https://youtu.be/ewvVihvASoA

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edithe’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
