Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Remembered With Love

After a lengthy and difficult illness, it is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Edward on May 7, 2025 at the age of 89 years.

He leaves to fondly remember him, his wife and partner, Sarah (Morag) (neé Owen), and his four sons, Tony (Brenda), Kerr, Marc (Christine) and Rene; grandchildren Woodrow, Tova, Milo and Caleigh; his brother Raymond (Jill).

Edward was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba and lived with his parents and brother Raymond near Camperville, Manitoba. Living by a lake gave him a love of the outdoors, swimming, hunting, fishing and boating. His father, being a carpenter, taught him the skills of woodworking which later led him to teach children those same skills in various remote Manitoba communities.

He encouraged perfection from his students and they seemed to appreciate that as they worked hard on their projects.

When the family settled in Winnipeg, Edward, along with his wife and teenage boys, built the house that they still occupy today after 53 years in Fort Garry. The boys have learned many skills from their father which they are grateful for today.

We would like to thank everyone, family members, neighbours and friends for their good wishes and condolences and for helping Edward while he was ill. He really appreciated their help.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.

An informal gathering will be held to honour Edward at 853 Kebir Place from 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm on Sunday, June 8 for family, friends and neighbours.
