Dear Caterina, Vincenzo and Antonio,
Your mamma and I grew up together and met in Kindergarten at Earl Grey School.  We were close friends throughout school and attended University together.  Our Dad's took turns driving us to Kelvin High School from Grade 10 to 12.  Richetta was alot of fun and I'll always remember the many socials and dances we went to.  I remember watching how happy she was Italian dancing at Folklorama.  She was great!  We had a lot of fun together working on the Kelvin yearbook.  She was very talented and patient with layout details.  Along with our friend Kathy, we experienced a wonderful 10 day holiday in Orlando Florida when we were 20!  A trip of pictures and memories to be cherished! I was truly honored to be a bridesmaid at your parents wedding.  Although our lives took us in different directions, I always thought of Richetta and we were able to see each other every now and then....I wish it was more.  I know she was very proud of you and family meant everything to her.  She had the life she dreamed about having when she was young. I will always cherish my memories of your Mamma.  She was smart, kind, thoughtful, loving and a truly wonderful, positive person.  There is no doubt that she passed these characteristics to you.  Find comfort knowing that you are part of her and she will always be a part of you.

A person is never truly gone if their memory and spirit continues to live on and Richetta’s forever will. I fondly remember the younger days spent together and how welcoming and generous she was whenever I had the pleasure of sharing her company. May she rest in peace 🙏 

My first memory of Richetta happened 50 years ago when we were young teenagers. She had just gotten a job at the Ft Garry Hotel serving at banquets and called me to say they needed another server and did I want to go in with her. After convincing my parents, I joined her that night and became a banquet waitress too. We also joined a group of Italian youth and danced for many years at the Italian Folklorama pavilion. I’ll never forget Richetta was chosen as the 1st runner up and I was the 2nd runner up for the crown of Princess for our pavilion one year.
I was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid for her and Frank and remember doing her makeup the morning of their wedding. I was even more honoured when she later asked me to be Caterina’s comare (godmother). I have enjoyed many years of friendship and would’ve liked to have had many more. I never heard her raise her voice or say a negative word in her whole life. She was a “one of a kind” special person who really did deserve so much better. Although we know that God has welcomed her with open arms, our hearts are still broken.

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet mom Richetta. I am so thankful for her friendship to my mom and our family for over 50 years. I have such wonderful memories of fun parties and meals at your family home, holiday nights filled with laughter, bicchieri and both of your parents fantastic spirits. Your mom was such a warm, kind, generous and loyal woman. She always sent her love to me through my mom, wishing me success in my career and I always appreciated her constantly rooting for me. I hope you three understand how your families resilience has been nothing short of inspirational to us all and reminding us to live each day to the fullest. She lives on in you and she will be forever missed. Sending you all my love.

Our condolences to all your family. I worked with Ricki for many years. She was a very caring loving friend. Fond memories over the years. So said when how her retirement journey started and now ended. She deserved so much better. Frank and her had so much more to do on this earth. She was a fighter for sure but in the end the beast of Cancer will win. Together again we can all have the assurance that her Frank’ s reunited moment was beautiful and now they dance up there in Gods arms looking down on their children and grandchildren with pride and love. Look up kids and pick a star smile remembering the great times and the love you have. Talk to them when needed. Ricki my friend you will be very missed by all but I know you and Frank together will watch over us all. Bye my friend. God bless
