Fannye Evangeline Andrews
8 December , 1926 – 6 March , 2019
Surrounded by her family, Fannye Evangeline Andrews (nee Grammas) passed away peacefully on March 6, 2019.
Fannye was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 8, 1926, to Venetia and George Grammas. Birmingham was home to Fannye until she moved to Winnipeg in 1950. There, she worked her magic as a mother, an educator and a volunteer. Fannye contributed to the education of countless young people throughout her teaching career at Windsor Park Collegiate. These contributions are second only to her most cherished and important commitment, that was to her five children, Renie, Deno, George, Tia and Peggy. In her retirement, she enjoyed her decades long association as both an educator and a volunteer with The Winnipeg Art Gallery. She also highly valued her membership in the The American Women’s Club and, most importantly, the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
Fannye is predeceased by her parents Venetia and George Grammas, sisters Ernestine Costellos and Evangeline Stathatkes, brother Cameron Grammas and her infant grandson, Christopher Normandin. Her grandchildren Kristen Normandin, Douglas Stephen and Cameron Cumming, and great grandson Jacob Weinberg are left with the fondest memories of a fiercely loving, doting and proud grandmother. Prayers will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.
The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with the Reception and Interment to follow immediately at Green Acres Funeral Home.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to St. Demitrios Greek Orthodox Church of Winnipeg, Manitoba and the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

I have very fond memories from when Fannye and her family were next door neighbours on Mohawk Bay. In those days there were no fences and our mutual backyards became a wonderful playground for our two families. I always admired the way that Fannye raised her children and the courage in doing so. She was a wonderful neighbour.
My sympathies go out to her children, Renie, Dino, George, Tia and Peggy. I can still visualize them running around the yard from those days.
A donation has been sent to the Alzheimer's Society in her memory

Vivid memories of Mrs. Andrews as my neighbour on Mohawk Bay and my Home Ec teacher at Windsor Park Collegiate.
