Mr. Fernando Antonio Neto Fixe

He was the second oldest of six brothers and one sister.

Fernando served in the Portuguese army in Aveiro, Portugal from 1968 to 1971 and met Lidia Maria da Cruz Cardoso during this time. They were married in Febres, Portugal on February 12th, 1972.

During this time Portugal was very unstable so Fernando and Lidia had decided to immigrate to Canada. While waiting for the paper work to be approved for Fernando’s oldest brother Manuel and his wife Isabel to sponsor them to Winnipeg, MB, they were blessed with their first child Joao Paulo Cardoso Fixe, born on May 9th, 1973.

The three of them arrived in Winnipeg, MB on October 15th, 1973 where Fernando found work in construction.

On April 1st, 1976 their first daughter, Susana Gorete Cardoso Fixe, was born followed by Steven Andrew Cardoso Fixe on May 3rd, 1985.

Fernando worked for Nelson River Construction for many years right up to October of 2008. Fernando was a man who lived his life the way he wanted. In his spare time he enjoyed soccer, either surrounded by his friends at the local club or at home with his family. His three grandchildren Ella (4), Emmersyn (3), and Tiago (3), kept him on his toes by playing soccer and running circles around him in the back yard.

He will be missed.
