Forever Remembered

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved maman, grand-mère and great grandmother, Florence Chartier (née Le Gal) on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Honoré Chartier.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Mariette (Louis Paquin), Richard (Liza Maheu), Gérald (Aurore), Georges (Cathy), and Eveline (Eric Malcolm); as well as her grandchildren: Francine (Aron), Josée (Andrew), Sophie (Lukasz), Pierre-Marc, Alexandre, Roxane (Luke), Geneviève, Nicolas, Deanna (Chris) and Evan (Shany); and her great grandchildren: Xavier, Florence, Isabella and Inara.

Florence leaves to mourn her many sisters and brothers: Thérèse Dupont, Yvonne, Léo (Diane), Yves (Yvette), Simone, Camille, Georges (Anne Marie) and Jeanne as well as her large extended family. She was predeceased by Marie-Ange (Louis de Gonzague Chaput), Louis (Lorraine), Joseph Dupont, Germaine (Léo Girard), Lucille (Renald Gariépy), Jules Troisfontaines et Jean-Guy Benjamin.

Florence was born in St. Adolphe on September 30, 1932 to Louise and François Le Gal and grew up on their family farm. After graduating from normal school in Winnipeg, she taught school in Lorette and Ste. Anne. A few years later, she met the love of her life Honoré Chartier and married him on July 21, 1956. Florence was devoted to her family and community shown during Honoré’s lengthy illness and her many years of service with the Catholic Women’s league of St. Norbert. She had a warm and spirited personality and enjoyed her independence. After raising her children, she devoted herself to preparing income tax returns for H&R Block, Investor’s Group and many family members. In her later years, she enjoyed a good book, a challenging sudoku, visiting her family and being a gardening consultant for her children and grandchildren.

In keeping with her faith, funeral services will be held at St. Eugene Parish, 1009 St Mary's Rd. on Saturday, November 9, 2019, with eulogy at 10:15 a.m. and funeral mass commencing at 10:30 a.m.

If friends and family so desire in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Après avoir élevé ses enfants, elle se dévoua à la préparation de déclarations d’impôts pour H&R Block, Investor’s Group et plusieurs membres de sa famille. Mrs. Chartier was a very wonderful person. She was so kind, & such an amazing support to our family, especially to our mother, Moyra. She would give our family treats when she baked, & vegetables from her beautiful garden. I am the oldest of the 7 Repchinsky children, who lived next door. I was always so excited to be asked to babysit for her. She always left delicious treats for me, & her children were always so well- behaved. It was my favourite place ever, to babysit!
I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to all of her family and friends.

Mrs. Chartier was a very special person in my life while I was growing up in St. Norbert. She was so kind, thoughtful and ready to help at any time. I recall her comforting me on a number of occasions. I also recall how often she made me laugh. She always had such a positive outlook and a smile for everyone. My Mom passed away this July and I know she would want me to say how much she appreciated Mrs. Chartier as a neighbour and a dear friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with her children and her family through this difficult time.
Susan ( one of the 7 crazy kids from next door)

You are one of the fondest memories from my childhood. I don't know how you tolerated all seven crazy kids that lived next door to you. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. My condolences and prayers to all .

I lived next door to the Chartiers with my mom and six siblings. I babysat often for them and they were my favorite place to babysit. All the kids were wonderful and Mrs. Chartier made the best nanimo bars and always had them out for me.
She was an awesome friend to my mom and always treated all of us kids with so much kindness,
She made a difference in all our lives and was/is a very special lady.
Thinking of all of you,
love Debbie
