

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Auntie and Best Friend on March 23rd at the Grace Hospital at the age of 92 years.
Frances (Fran) was born to Sidney and Margaret Nicholson on September 6, 1931, on a farm near Dauphin, Manitoba. Fran had one older sister Florence Kerr and one younger brother Phillip Nicholson. Fran was an active member of the community when growing up in Dauphin, playing baseball, going to local dances, and working at the Eaton’s department store. It was at a local dance that Fran met her first husband James Alexander Stevenson “Jim”. They married on September 4, 1953, due to Jim’s work they moved several times from Dauphin, to Grandview, to Thompson, back to Dauphin then finally to Winnipeg. During their moves they welcomed their five daughters and son.
After losing her first husband in November 1970, Mom married for a second time on June 29, 1974, to James Nelson Litster “Jim”. Her family grew with the addition of his 4 children & spouses and their families. Marty & Nancy Litster, Denis & Marianne Litster, Kathy & Alan Mazur, Barry & Betty Litster.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and son in-laws: Wendy & Rick Manness, Patricia & Brad Schnell, Debra & Howard Ashdown, Margaret & Brian Erickson and Tanis & Rick Selman. As well as her grandchildren and spouses: Sean & Deanne Schnell, Christopher Manness, Mark & Jenn Manness, Kevin & Kristel Schnell, Amanda & Mike Monney, Erin Ashdown-Udvar & Christopher Udvar, Kristen Ashdown & Damian Dueck, Connor Ashdown, Curtis Erickson & Vicki Medland, Samantha Erickson, Aiden Selman, and Daniel Selman. Also, her 11 great-grandchildren: Carson & Mackenzie Schnell, Aubrey & Keaton Schnell, Brady & Emily Manness, Mclaren, Lorelai & Kensington Udvar, Natalie & Wren Dueck.
Mom was a great volunteer, she was always willing to help-out church groups, bake sales and with fund raising for many organizations and charities. Mom was very proud to be a Rebekah for over 70 years. Some of Mom’s loves started with her children, grand-children, and great grandchildren. She had also had a great love of gardening and baking, the results of which were unrivaled. Mom along with her sister Florence were proud members of the Dauphin Pioneers Association. She also enjoyed playing cards, games and doing puzzles with any visitors or friends at the Adamar apartment block. She also loved watching the old classic movies. When her eyesight was good reading novels was another great enjoyment.
Predeceased by both of her parents, and in-laws, her son Jimmy Stevenson, her first husband James Alexander Stevenson, her brother & sister-in-law Phillip & Phyllis Nicholson, her Nephew Sydney Nicholson, her Grandson Christopher Manness, and great nephew Adam Calder, also her second husband James Nelson Litster, her sister and brother-in-law Florence & John Kerr.
Her viewing and funeral are in the care of Thompson “In the Park”, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg.
The viewing to be on Friday, April 5 at 7:00 pm and the funeral on Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the memorial eye foundation.
