It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Francisco (Kiko) Saria at Seven Oaks Hospital on Thursday, March 8 2018.
Remaining to forever cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Maria Paz (Pacing) and their four children, Francisco Jr. (Mercy), Efren (Solly), Olivia (Jun), and Marissa (Ramil); daughter in-law, Connie; 15 grandchildren, Heather, Heidi (Chen), Jessa, Kerstine (Michael), Francis (Anne), Jan, Marvin, Maricar, Marco, Carlo, Kayla, A-Jay, Camille, Mae, and Allison; and three great grandchildren, Tiffany Gail, Frederick, and Arthur.
He was predeceased by his parents, five siblings, son Milo, and great grandson Franz.
Francisco was born in Imus, Cavite, Philippines as the fourth of six children to parents, Felipe and Julia, on January 29, 1923. It was in Imus that he met and married the love of his life, Pacing. In the Philippines, he was a farmer for 49 years and worked in the rice fields, harvested mangos, and tended to the water buffalos. In 1986, Francisco along with his wife and daughter Marissa immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, joining eldest son Francisco Jr. and his family. In Canada, he worked numerous jobs, providing for his family in Canada and the Philippines.
When Francisco finally retired at age 73, he split his time between Canada and the Philippines. Never to fall victim of boredom, he kept an active and healthy lifestyle by gardening, working on outdoor projects, visiting neighbours (in the West End of Winnipeg and around Alapan in the Philippines), spending time with his grandchildren, and recounting memories of days gone by.
Francisco will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, a strong and dedicated father, a fun and caring grandfather, and a kind and loyal friend. It was during the latter years of his life in 2016 that our Tatay accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior.
We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
-2 Corinthians 5:8
Lamay will be on Friday, March 16 from 6pm-midnight at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Francisco’s final resting place will be in his cherished hometown Imus, Cavite, Philippines at the Rita Samson Memorial Garden.
