Cherishing his memory are his wife Shirley; mother Edith; sister Marilyn (Herb); sisters-in-law; Doreen, Bev, Sherrill; cousins Dianne (Fred), Dennis, Marg (Rob),Bev (Jeff) and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Fred will always be in our hears and remembered as a kind, generous and loving man, always putting others ahead of himself. His interests were many but mostly Fred loved country music. He was self taught, accordion, piano, banjo, guitar and steel guitar player. He played in a band, wrote music and led many singsongs over campfires or at the cottage. He knew the words to every song we could sing. His love of music was extensive but his favorites included Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot and Buck Owens.
Fred enjoyed many opportunities to travel from coast to coast in Canada and as far north as Alaska/Yukon and as far south as Florida. Wherever he went his gift for welcoming others earned him many friends.
The family would like to express a heartfelt appreciation for all the Doctors and Nurses who supported him in his journey through cancer. We want to especially acknowledge the care of Dr. Shawn Shenghua, Dr. Hajidracos and Dr. Liann and the Nurses of 6E at St Boniface; Dr. Houston at CancerCare and his family doctor, Dr. Goldberg. Special thanks to Dolores for all her care.
