Georgette Eileen Marie Labossière (nee Lavergne) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the age of 69, with her family by her side. She is survived by her three children: Robert (Dayna), Richard (Lindsay), and Nicole; her nine cherished grandchildren: Garrett, Charisma, Anthony, Hillary, Terra, Taylor, Parker, Draeton and Brixlee; her siblings: Richard (Heather), Marie (Pete), Maurice (Noelie), Pete (Olga), Gerry (Shelley), Marc (Blanche), Monique, Debbie (Fred), Jean (Georgina), Gisele (Eugene), and Christine; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Daniel, her parents Roland and Lorraine, her sisters Claire and Lucie, and her brother-in-laws Luc and Rob.
Georgette was born on June 11, 1955, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba. Growing up in a large family, Georgette learned the importance of love, support, and togetherness. During her teenage years, she often spent time with one of her best friends, Collette, and eventually married Collette’s brother, Daniel. The couple, known fondly as Georgie and Danny, soon began their own family, bringing three wonderful children into the world.
Georgette dedicated herself completely to her children, always putting their needs above her own. Her love was unconditional, and selfless. Her heart was filled with an unwavering love for her family. She shared unique, special bonds with each of her nine grandchildren, all of whom held a very special place in her heart.
In addition to being a full-time mother, Georgette attended Université de Saint-Boniface, earning a Bachelor of Education degree. She spent many fulfilling years as a school teacher, a role she deeply cherished until she had to retire due to health concerns.
Throughout her long battle with Emphysema COPD, Georgette displayed incredible strength and resilience. She fought each day, not just for herself, but for the people she loved. Despite her struggles, she never wanted to be a burden on anyone and always fought to remain present for the precious moments shared with her family. Now, we take comfort knowing that she is free from pain, reunited with her beloved husband, and watching over all of us.
We will forever treasure the lessons she taught us—about love, compassion, sacrifice, and the enduring strength of family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025 11:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
