Gerry had a long and fulfilling life. Her last years were filled with happy memories of her childhood and of raising and caring for her family.
Gerry spent her life in Winnipeg. After graduating high school, she had a career with Nesbitt Thompson where she met the love of her life, Ernie. They married on April 14th, 1949. Gerry was an excellent mother and caregiver. While raising her children, she volunteered at an elementary school library. Later she went back to school to take a librarian course. After graduating, she worked at Rockwood and Montrose Schools. After retiring, she continued to volunteer at Grant Park High School Library, enjoying working with the high school students, who never ceased to amaze her.
Gerry especially enjoyed summers at her cottage at Whytewold Beach with her family.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the wonderful staff at Tuxedo Villa Care Home for the loving and considerate care she received.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Foundation, 1350-1 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X3.
