Gertrud is survived by her daughter Annette Santilli (Angelo), her grandchildren Jennifer (Josh), Anna-Maria (Manny), Brandi (Peter) and Angelo (Samantha). She has 7 great grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart. Gertrud is also survived by her sister Agnes Smith (Richard), her nieces Cathy and Kristel (Joel) and her nephew Erik (Kathy) along with many great-nephews and great-nieces all of whom she cherished.
Gertrud immigrated to Canada in 1951 where she worked at the Health Sciences Centre for over 25 years. She was a dedicated and loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and charity. She is well known for her masterfully knitted blankets and needle point pictures or as she called it her handicraft. She had incredible precision when wrapping presents and was always months ahead when it came to buying gifts for any occasion. She always made time for her family and would always be the first person to any family gathering.
Her never ending yet sometimes repeated stories will be greatly missed. She will always be in our thoughts and will forever be in our hearts.
