

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jane Anne Schledewitz (née Bunio), age 78, on June 27, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba after a brief battle with cancer. Born on March 26, 1948, in Selkirk, Manitoba, Jane lived a life defined by her unwavering dedication to family, community, and volunteering.
A devoted wife to Brian and a loving mother to her sons Doug (Sandy) and Kevin (Lori), Jane cherished her family deeply. She was a proud grandmother to Katlin, Cory, Ben and Kole. Her sister Gladys also held a very special place in her heart. Jane was predeceased by her parents, John and Anne Bunio.
Jane’s life was marked by an extraordinary spirit of giving, community-building and taking care of others. A lifelong volunteer, she dedicated herself to helping many different causes and organizations. She was honored with the Jack Stewart Award for her contributions to community work, served as a board member for Continuity Care for over 25 years, was actively involved with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and volunteered tirelessly at schools, charitable groups, and was involved with other community initiatives.
Wherever Jane lived, she created a warm and welcoming environment that fostered lasting friendships. Her home was always a hub of connection and joy for family, neighbors and friends alike. Known for her caring nature and vibrant personality, Jane had an incredible ability to bring people together and make everyone feel special and valued.
Jane’s legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and an enduring commitment to caring for others and making the communities around her better. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
May those who loved Jane find comfort in the countless lives she touched and the communities she strengthened through her kindness and dedication. A Service will be held on Saturday July 4, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Concordia Village, 1115 Molson Street. A small lunch will be served after the service.
