With much love and unimaginable sadness I announce the peaceful passing of a gentle, kind and loving wife. Janet Loreen Hoggarth died July 9, 2026 after many years of enduring Rheumatoid Arthritis. Four weeks ago, she came home after four and a half months in hospital. That was a gift as it was not expected she would ever be able to return home. Sadly, the Arthritis caused a severely curved spine resulting in Respiratory problems she could not overcome, and she passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
Janet was born on September 24, 1947, in Grenfell, SK. where she received her education before completing a secretarial course in Regina, SK. Janet married Earle Hoggarth August 2, 1969, in Grenfell, SK. In their nearly 57 years together they lived in Welwyn, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and Winnipeg, MB. Each time Earle was transferred in his banking position Janet gave up her job and followed him to a new home, where she quickly obtained employment again. Her final employment was with Winnipeg Supply where she worked for many years and retired from in 1999.
Her greatest loves were her family, camping, travelling, flower gardening, and just enjoying nature and being outdoors.
She was predeceased by her parents, David and Loreen Milne, her grandparents James and Agnes Milne and George and Grace Welch, Douglas Welch, uncle and Lorna Welch, aunt.
Janet is survived by the love of her life Earle Hoggarth, nieces and nephews, Fletcher Kent (Shauna), Leanne Kent, Amy Kent (Ken Spasoff), Cameron Hoggarth, and Nolan Hoggarth (Laura Messett) as well as a number of cousins.
I will be forever grateful for the kind and compassionate care given to Janet for the past 12 years by Dr. K. Lamba, Internal Medicine, Dr. D. Robinson, and Dr. K. Jilkine, Rheumatologists at the Health Sciences Centre, and all other staff who worked so hard to help Janet through many problems. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to: Arthritis Society Canada 220 Bay Street, Suite 300, Toronto, ON MSJ 2W4 would be welcome.
Cremation has taken place and a family remembrance will be held at a later date.
