

Marie was born in Fort Garry, was baptized in St. Vital Parish Church and was raised in Fort Garry. She lived at home on Holly Avenue while working at Eaton’s Mail Order until the 1950’s, when she moved out on her own.
Marie married Robert “Earl” Masters in 1960. Earl was in the R.C.A.F. and they were posted to Calgary and then overseas for four years, then back to a posting in Winnipeg where they bought their own house on Centennial Street in Centennial year, 1967 where they made many good friends over the years including the Wiebes and the Millars. Upon retirement they continued the travelling they started overseas and basically saw the world with trips to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico.
She was predeceased by Earl on October 25, 1998. She remained in her home until her health became an issue at the age of 93.
Marie and Earl made many good friends in the forces, some of whom remained friends after retirement. Wally and Gin Sveinson of Edmonton have remained true friends through the years and Marie looked forward to receiving greeting cards from them for every possible occasion. She would say “They never forget!” Marie loved horse races, the casinos and card games. She liked to gamble and loved to tell everyone when she won.
Marie was also predeceased by her parents Francois Xavier and Margarite Plouffe, three brothers John (1976), Omer (1998), and Steve (2005), two sisters: Mary (1935) and Edna Burke (1999) niece Blanch See (1981), great nephew Kelly Erb (1982), sister-in-law Margaret Plouffe (2007) and brother-in-law Bill Burke.
She has one surviving sister-in-law Florence (Omer) Plouffe.
Marie had no children of her own, but thoroughly enjoyed all her nieces, nephews and extended family. “Auntie Tense” is survived by Jeri Scott, Eleanor and Murray Kelly, Dorothy and Gary Erb, Wayne and Peggy Plouffe, Roberta and Jim Vanaert and Steve Plouffe and their families. Blanche Sees’ daughters Norma and Darla and family, 4 nieces, 4 nephews, 17 “Greats”, 28 “ Great, Greats” and 5 “ Great, Great, Greats”
Funeral services for “ Auntie Tense” will take place at Thomson ”In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Thursday, February 14 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Barry Schoonbaert presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Vital Parish Cemetery, 826 Crescent Drive.
Pallbearers will be her great nephews Geoff Plouffe, Dan Plouffe, Stacy Plouffe, Michael Wrixon, Chad Wrixon and Ryan Morrisette.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to all the staff at River Park Gardens for their kindness, care and compassion to Marie and her family during her stay there.
