The Mehra family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Kamal Mehra.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sudha Mehra and children, Divya, Sachit (Caroline), Anish (Sejal), Nitin (Melissa) and grandchildren.
As a member of the Winnipeg community for the last 45 years, Kamal established and built a very successful business in doing what he loved, cooking great food. Eventually founding the East India Company Restaurants. True to his nature Kamal endlessly contributed to the community around him and was an ambassador for Indian cuisine and culture in Canada. Landing in Vancouver 1966, he would come to Winnipeg in 1967 and study engineering. He married Sudha in 1974 and remained a devoted partner for 41 years.
We pray for Kamal's peace as he joins his Mother, Father and Brother.
Please join us in celebrating Kamal Mehra’s life at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
Prayers in the evening at Hindu temple, 999 St. Anne’s Road at 6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Usha Mehra's name to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation.
