Larry John Swanson

Following a lengthy illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Swanson on September 30, 2026.

Larry will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by friends and family.

He is survived by his partner Nicole, son Nile (Jennifer), and granddaughter Vienna.

He is predeceased by his mother Mary Ann and his father Lawrence.

Larry was a dedicated father who devoted much of his life to the arts. He channelled his unique passion and energy as a drama teacher at Oak Park High School, where he is remembered fondly by past students and faculty members. Larry additionally produced and performed in many theatrical pieces.

He enjoyed the outdoors immensely and was very well connected to nature. He shared this with his son during many camping trips, beach days and other adventures. Larry enjoyed the simple things in life, a good walk, a trip to Gimli to watch the seagulls on the pier, especially with his partner Nicole.

Larry lit up the room with his personality and will be loved and remembered by all who knew him. He was a strong believer in karma and a generous man who embraced people from all walks of life.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
