It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lary Edward Neufeld. After years of managing heart failure, he passed away peacefully August 20, 2026 at the Grace Hospital, in Winnipeg at the age of 75.
Lary will be missed by his wife of 44 years, Mary, and his four children: Arlene (Jeff), Cherie, Erin (Kent), and James (Magda). Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also carry the memory of Lary in their hearts. Lary is survived by his sister Dorothy, and predeceased by his siblings Helen, Betty, Johnny, Bruce, and his infant son Teddy.
Born October 4, 1950 in Winnipeg, Lary was the youngest of six children born to John and Thelma Neufeld. Lary was raised in Winnipeg’s North End, which he always considered an important detail in the story of his life.
All of the proudest professional achievements in Lary’s life started with the completion of the Business Accounting program at Red River College. Lary then took an opportunity with the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association. Working his way up, through years of hard work and dedication, Lary became the General Manager of Winnipeg Enterprises Corporation in January of 1997. In 2000 Lary retired and found enjoyment in taking care of his pets, and spending beautiful Manitoba summers camping at Grand Beach.
Remaining curious and entrepreneurial, during retirement Lary dipped his toes into real estate and took on a strong interest in investing. He followed the stock markets daily, enjoying their ups, downs, and everything in between. Ever the accountant, business news to Lary was as entertaining as a reality T.V. show to anyone else. But more than anything, Lary enjoyed being helpful and supportive to his children, and all their endeavors, as he possibly could be.
Lary’s Celebration of Life will be held at The Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo Pl, in Winnipeg, Friday, September 11 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lary’s name to your charity of choice that holds true to your hearts.
