Louise L. Soubry
5 May , 1932 – 4 May , 2019
Peacefully on May 4th 2019, Mom passed away at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg after demonstrating unbelievable resilience and determination while facing many significant health challenges for the past several years. Regardless of the challenges she faced, she continually showed grace, strength and determination. Her strong Catholic Faith and the resolve to never give up, were always the driving forces in her life, qualities that serve as examples to her children and grandchildren.
Mom is preceded by our Dad, Paul Soubry; her parents Albert and Blanche Fortier; and her sister, Patricia Lefebvre.
She is survived by her 6 children and 15 grandchildren. Mark (Sonia Dufault), Cedric & Nicolas; Greg (Judy), Remy & Claire; Ann Lovell (John) Marina, Victoria & JP; Paul (Christine), Paul III & Madeline; Marina McGlenen (Stephen) Nicole & Katie and Veronique Soubry Kossuth (Guy) Reginald, Gabrielle, Brigitte & Gregory.
She is survived as well by her brothers Ronald and Peter Fortier and many in-laws, Jacqueline Colleye, John-Pierre & Monique Soubry, Nanette Stainier, Marina & Leon Van de Berg and Marc & Claire Soubry. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends, especially a lifelong friendship with Monique Rousseau.
Mom was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec and became a Registered Nurse at St Mary’s Hospital in Montreal. It was through nursing that she met our dad. Mom dedicated her life to being a loving, supporting wife and mother and grandmother. Her family was her source of great joy and pride. She also gave back to her community through her many efforts as a board member for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, St Boniface Hospital, Cancer Care and the Manitoba Nurses Association. Mom loved the sunshine, and the memory of her sitting on her deck this past Easter will be one forever remembered.
Bonnemaman, as she was known in our family, never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren near and far through their many sporting events, school and artistic accomplishments and activities. Sunday suppers and special occasions at her house were a great sense of pride and memories for those living close by. Mom opened her heart and home to everyone, and she was happiest there surrounding by her family and her things. For those living away, Bonnemaman’s visits were cherished moments together and special bonds were formed that will last on.
We would like to thank the many physicians, and healthcare professionals over the past 8 years who helped Mom. We are also grateful to the Homecare staff who provided care that allowed Mom to stay in the home she loved.
Our family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital, in particular Dr. George and Dr. St. Godard who provided care and compassion to her in her final days.
Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Monday May 13, 2019 at 10:30 am at St John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place.
In lieu of flowers donations to Cancer Care Foundation Manitoba, Diabetes Canada or a Charity of your choice.

I offer my condolences to my dear cousins and to all the members of their own family in Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba. I visited Louise (3) times in Winnipeg since 2004 and I met her and/with Mark Soubry, Greg Soubry , Paul Soubry jr , Marina Soubry and Ann Lowell during the spring of 2018 in Magog. Qc. for a memorable farewell to us and the the atmosphere of the Sherbrooke Region The warm, sincere and expressive personality of Louise during all occasions is my greatest souvenir.

Notre consideration pour Albert Fortier et Blanche Fortier remonte 50 annee et plus et cela est comme hier ! R.I P.

I only had the pleasure of meeting your mom once many years ago, but I still remember it. I have also enjoyed hearing your stories about your lovely mom over the years of our friendship. To me, there is no more important role a woman plays than that of a mother. I am in awe of what a fabulous mother you are, Marina. It is incredible the way you have raised your girls. I KNOW that you learned this through an absolutely stellar role-model of your own mother. She has passed on so many wonderful qualities to you....but what she entrenched in your as a mother is amazing. Take comfort in the fact that all she has given you will continue forever.

Nos condoléances et pensées vous accompagnent en cette fin de vie de Louise.
Mes souvenirs d’une cousine exceptionnelle couvrent une période de 60 ans et notre dernière rencontre à Georgeville était une belle initiative de rapprochement de votre part.

Ann , I am so very sorry to hear about your mom's passing. We have spent many times talking about our mothers over the past few years. Your mom was blessed to have such a loving family surrounding her and taking care of her. Take care and know that your mom, your family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
