

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louise Lewis on November 12, 2025. Louise was born in Cedar Valley, Jamaica, where she attended primary and high school and worked with family members before coming to Canada. She moved to Winnipeg in 1971 in pursuit of a better life for her family.
Upon arriving in Winnipeg, Louise worked for Cara Food Services for several years. She later decided to pursue a career in the health industry, completing her health care course and working at Tuxedo Villa Care Home until her retirement in 2015.
Louise leaves behind her beloved children: Clover, Jascinth, Mark, and Carl; her cherished grandchildren: Deavon, Haley, Maliah, and Mckenna; Great-grandchildren: Maleijah, Gabrielle, Evania, and newborn Great-great-grandson Jahmarie. Louise was survived by her brothers Colin and Frank, sisters-in-law Nelly, Carmen, and Edna. She will also be deeply missed by nieces and nephews; including Marsha, Monique, Kay, Colleen, L’Sidni, CeCe, Michelle, Margaret, Wayne, and Shelly. Daughters’ in-law; Jessica and Anna, and many more.
Louise was predeceased by her brothers O.T ,Levi, Stat, Ellis, Sister Inez, and Sister in-law Lena.
Special Thank you to Delrose and Irma, who came from Jamaica to care for Louise, and to Candy and all the care providers who supported her.
Louise was a fun-loving woman who cherished life and treasured her family. She was an active member of the Jamaican Association, Congress of Black Women of Manitoba where she devoted her time to supporting the community and organizing special events. She was also an active participant in Folklorama events in Winnipeg, proudly sharing her heritage and culture with the wider community.
Louise will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We will miss her radiant smile that could light up any room.
Please join us to celebrate the life of Louise Lewis at the funeral on Saturday, November 29th at the New Anointing Christian Fellowship, 1425 Manitoba Ave. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am, with the funeral celebration at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Glen Eden, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. After the funeral, please proceed to the Jamaican Hall, 1098 Winnipeg Ave, for a tribute celebration in honor of Louise.
There will also be a Nine Night celebration on Friday, November 28th at the Jamaican Hall, 1098 Winnipeg Ave. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Please come out and celebrate the life of our mother. Donations will be accepted, and proceeds will go toward relief efforts for the devastating hurricane that is affecting the beautiful land of Jamaica.
Louise’s memory will forever remain in our hearts.
