It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Lynne Ryan. Lynne died peacefully on December 23, 2016 surrounded by her family and supported by the Medically Assisted in Dying (MAID) team. Lynne was 73 at the time of her passing.
Lynne will be sadly missed by her wife Kathy Jones; sons Sean (and wife Kate Davies), Brennan, and Teague; first husband James; and many close friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her sister Lea, and her parents Harold and Freda Garez.
Lynne was born and grew up in Winnipeg and was a popular psychologist in the city. She received her Undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba, married Jim, and had three children. While raising her children, she completed a Masters in Education and shortly after took her family to California where she studied at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Lynne’s time in California influenced her personal and professional life and she spoke fondly of her experiences there. After returning home Lynne became a private practitioner with a large thriving practice. She also mentored numerous students, most notably Teressa Grosko, who remained a close friend until Lynne’s death.
Lynne was fiercely loyal to her partners and children. She loved decorating her house and working in her garden. She could be found working in her garden most afternoons even after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
It was Lynne’s wish that there be no service. Instead, she asked individuals to remember the children in their lives in lieu of flowers for her.
She will be interred at Thomson “In the Park” Cemetery.
