It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mandata Singh on October 5th 2026 at 74 years old. Left to cherish his memory is his immediate family of Julie and his lone child Eithan. He was predeceased by his mother Rampiarie and his father Kuar.
Mandata was born in Penal Rock Road, Trinidad and Tobago, on July 26th 1952. He eventually immigrated to Winnipeg and attended both Gordon Bell High School and Fort Richmond Collegiate. Upon graduation, Mandata received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Manitoba and moved to Toronto to begin a new job as a bookkeeper. Soon after, Mandata would be forced to leave his job in Toronto, and move back to Trinidad to take care of his ill mother in her final days.
Upon her passing, Mandata would move to Winnipeg and marry his wife Julie, also from Trinidad. They would soon welcome their son Manuel Eithan Singh and call Winnipeg their home.
Mandata was an extremely hard working man who sacrificed greatly to ensure the care and success of his family. In his spare time, Mandata loved doing home renovation projects and watching hockey. He is a Montreal Canadiens fan and enjoyed watching a game with a cup of tea and a sweet treat. Mandata and Julie were prideful immigrants who soon became Canadian Citizens, however they always kept their Trinidadian Roots.
Mandata was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes earlier in his life and had his left leg amputated at age 71. Never one to give up, he worked diligently through hours, upon hours, of physiotherapy to remain independent.
Julie and Eithan would like to thank the Vascular Surgery and Emergency Room Teams at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion towards Mandata. As well as Thomson Funeral Home in helping them navigate this difficult time. A private viewing was held on October 14th for those closest to Mandata in his final days.
