IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Remembered With Love

After having contracted pneumonia brought on by COVID, and having courageously battled ocular lymphoma and Alzheimer’s, Marcel Yaskiw, son of the late Irene and Richard Yaskiw, died on June 26, 2023 at the Grace Hospital in his eightieth year.

Marcel is survived by his wife Joan, son, Shaun (Stephanie), brother Lorne (Cheri), sister Darlene, and brother-in-law Charlie. He was predeceased in 2016 by his daughter, Carole. He was a beloved grandfather to Luka, Sophia and Carter, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Marcel worked at the Teak Centre, for over 25 years at Wilson’s of Winnipeg, and following retirement, the Mattress Gallery.

Marcel loved the natural beauty of Riding Mountain National Park, the Oak Hammock Marsh and the Fort Whyte Interpretive Centre. He loved canoeing on the Red River, hiking and cross-country skiing. He was an avid wood worker, and in his retirement, volunteered for many years with Winnipeg Harvest.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at St. Mary’s Road United Church, 613 St. Mary’s Avenue on July 5th at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marcel’s memory may be made to Winnipeg Harvest or to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Rest eternal grant him, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his dwelling place be in heavenly Jerusalem, and all his portion be peace.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thomsoninthepark.com for the Yaskiw family.
