It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marian Adelheid (Nee Enns) Vincent. With her family by her side, she peacefully passed away on October 30, 2026 at the age of 89.
Marian was born on Sept. 23, 1937 to Frank and Maria Enns. She grew up on the family farm in the Burwalde School District. Her childhood provided many warm memories that she spoke of often in her later years. Early schooling included a one-room schoolhouse, correspondence courses, and graduation from the Winkler Collegiate Institute. Upon her confession of faith, she was baptized in the Bergthaler Church on May 20, 1956. After high school, she attended Briercrest Bible Institute, followed by Manitoba Teachers College. Later, she earned her Bachelor of Home Economics from the University of Manitoba. In total, she taught for ten years, and held a variety of summer and part-time jobs including Nurse’s Aide at the Ft. San TB Sanitorium and Ward Clerk at the Misericordia Hospital. Between work and part-time studies, she travelled to Europe and Africa both with friends and on her own. During this time, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba was also achieved.
Marian met Hartman, the love of her life, in Winnipeg. They married on May 15, 1979 and had one child, Heidi. Many happy times were spent in the garden, on day trips to Winkler, and on fishing trips throughout Manitoba. Marian worked as a Library Assistant for the City of Winnipeg for over 16 years. Upon retiring, Marian and Hartman celebrated a lifetime of hard work with a trip to Paris. Retirement included volunteer work for homeless shelters and churches, making new friends at coffee shops, gardening, and many meandering drives across the Prairies to visit Heidi and her family in Alberta.
Marian was a born teacher, lifelong learner, and book lover. She was quick to connect with people through a story, personal memory, or tip that might help. In addition to sharing and writing family history, she documented our lives through her photography. Many people looked forward to receiving Marian’s annual Christmas letter. She also created beautiful quilted, sewn, and embroidered treasures for her children and grandchildren.
Marian will be lovingly remembered by her husband Hartman, daughter Heidi (Daryl), grandchildren Olivia, Zoe, Tristan, and Leah, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Maria Enns, all of her siblings: Frank, Margie, Eva, Ruth, and Marvin, and several in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service, burial, and reception will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 10:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home. All friends and family are welcome. The family would like to sincerely thank the special staff at Extendicare Oakview Place for their loving and tender care of Mom.
Psalm 145: 8-10 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.
