The family of Marion Florence Phillips is deeply saddened by her passing on March 14, 2018, just shy of her 87th birthday. We are comforted in knowing her passing was peaceful and she is now reunited with our Dad/Papa, Thomas (dec. 1999), who she loved and missed dearly.
She is survived by her children: Alan (Susan), Gary (Agatha), and Lori (Gerry); grandchildren: Jeff (Jocelyn), Kelly (Jiseong), Amber (Bob), Jodi (Narad), Chad (Carrie), Brett (Johanna), Naomi, Louis, and Dameon; 14 great-granchildren who she adored; brother Bruce (Thea); sister-in-law Ruth (Bob, dec.), and many nieces and nephews.
Marion grew up in the Norwood area, and married and raised her children in St. Vital. She was primarily a homemaker, with several years of employment at Eaton’s squeezed into the mix. Upon Tom’s retirement, they moved to Hillside Beach where they spent their summers, and wintered in Arizona. After Tom’s passing, Marion moved back to the city to be closer to family and friends.
Always one to socialize, she reconnected with her craft group and NCI Breakfast gang, thoroughly enjoying their company. Marion always thought of others, surprising you often with a “pop-in” visit, or bringing flowers if you were under the weather. Marion loved people, laughter, and life! Most of all, she loved her family and we loved her! She gave of her heart and herself, always thoughtful and caring. She was that kind of lady. She has taught us well!
Mom/Mimi, we love you! You will always be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Marion’s Life will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation would be appreciated.
