Mom was born in October of 1925 in Toishan, of the Province of Guangdong. She immigrated to Canada with her four children in 1960 to join our dad Bing. They took over Paris Cafe from grandfather and settled in Gladstone, Manitoba. The children all helped in the restaurant and learned very good work ethics and business acumen. She cleared a good path for her children’s future. She was an excellent self-taught cook and her cooking was enjoyed by the citizens of Gladstone and its surrounding vicinities. She retired to Winnipeg in 1984 to enjoy family life with her children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s disease crept in slowly and she was admitted into Golden Links Lodge in 2004.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 11:00 am at Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary's Road.
The Toy family sincerely thanks the staff of Golden Links Lodge for their loving care, Dr. Quy Doan, and the love and service of her caring companion Angela MacDonald.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or to Golden Links Lodge.
