With a heavy heart and great sadness, I announce the sudden passing of my son Michael at the age of 53 on May 17, 2023.
Michael lived in North Kildonan graduating from Kildonan East Regional Secondary School in 1987. After graduating Michael lived and worked in Winnipeg and then in Vancouver for a few years. After returning to Winnipeg, he began his career with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries beginning as a customer service representative in a store and then worked his way up to a position in the IT Department. Michael held several positions in his union; MGEU.
As a young boy he had the opportunity to develop his business and customer service skills helping Grandma and Cam in the grocery store located in the North End of Winnipeg. Michael was devoted to his family and had a great love for animals, especially the dogs he grew up with that came from rescue shelters. Michael was a huge fan of the rock band “Pearl Jam” and had the opportunity to attend concerts in Canada and the United States.
Michael is survived by his Mother, Dawn McBay. He was predeceased by his Grandmother Ann McBay and her partner Cam and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
I wish to thank all the family, friends and neighbours who have been so supportive through this very difficult time. Donations in memory of Michael and his love of animals can be made to any animal shelter or rescue.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thomsoninthepark.com for the McBay family.
