Murray was born in Winnipeg on October 20th,1945 and he grew up in North /East Kildonan where he caused havoc with his chopper. He was employed by CP Rail for many years, as a crane operator.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his long time friends. You know who you are. Where the chaos continued.
Murray and Diana enjoyed several years together at their cottage with many friends and family, living, laughing and making memories.
Our Memories:
One of Murray's favorite thing to do was to sit down with his son Andy and play cribbage together. Games always got heated and lovingly needled each other. With their last contest father came out victorious. It’s fitting for a man who won in life, that it would end up that way. You won in every way that matters Dad.
My dearest grandfather. A man who was always there for his family and friends. You had a beautiful soul.
You are onto your next chapter. Thank you for everything Gramps. You made such a beautiful family. You are the definition of a true man. Words will never be able to explain the pain in my heart.
You always kissed my hand and made me feel like a princess. When I was little you and Grama let me sneak into your bed to sleep. Some of my favorite memories and so many more I will cherish forever.
No words could ever express the hole in my heart Dad I will miss my Papa Smurf forever.
No words to describe all you’ve done for our family.
We were truly blessed to have Dad attend Dan and Alli’s wedding this past October. It truly meant the world to us.
Dan will miss your daily check in phone calls, the advice you gave him all the laughs and of course your daily weather report
At Murray's request cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services.
If you knew Murray you’d know that he had many nick names
Mad dog, Maximum Mur, Furry Murray, Baby Murray, MurMur,
Pops, Papa, Papa Smurf, “ My dear Gramps "
There are certain people that touches the lives of many in a special way, knowing them brings us memories lasting a lifetime.
Murray was the kind of man that made everybody that met him feel important , meeting him for the first time you would think he knew you for years.
Murray could sell ice to an Eskimo. He had the gift of gab, no one could tell stories like Dad…and he had stories.
Murray defiantly battled MS for many decades But usually had a smile and could find the humor in life and any situation no matter how bleak it seemed.
