Nello Oreste Russo

He was predeceased by his parents, Emilio and Angela Russo; siblings Antonio Russo and Maria Fata and his nephew Emilio Russo.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Emilia; children Angela Spindler (Craig), Nella (Nunzio) Anania, Adriana (Angelo) Naccarato and Gino (Elizabeth) Russo. His grandchildren Ryan (Megan), Daniel (Chloe), Andrew (Elyse), Angelo (Charlotte), Amanda (Greg) Butler, Luca, Teurauna, Truestin and Torrie; great-grandchildren Quinn, Ace, Halo, Mila, Mason, Luca, Emma and Casey. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Nello Oreste Russo, born on November 5, 1938, in Grimaldi, Italy, passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 86. A resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Nello was a beloved and cherished member of his community. Known for his compassionate, devoted, and hard-working nature, he touched the lives of many with his generous and thoughtful spirit. His wisdom and patience were hallmarks of his character.

Nello was a devoted family man, married for 60 years. He and his spouse were blessed with four children, two of whom were born in Italy before the family moved to Winnipeg in 1968. His family was his pride and joy, including his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In his early years, Nello worked as a bus driver in Italy and had three siblings. Later, when he moved to Winnipeg, he became self-employed as a painter, where his dedication to his craft was evident.

Nello Oreste Russo's life was a testament to the values of love, family, and hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue, with condolences starting at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Green Acres Funeral Home & Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. with reception to follow at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd..
