He was predeceased by his wife Francis Evelyn Gyles. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and five children; Jennifer, Geoffrey, Heather, Norman, and Garry. He is survived by his three siblings, five children, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Norman was born and raised in Fort Garry. He was the eldest of five children born to William and Wilma Gyles. During his varied career, Norman worked and volunteered for a number of years, at the Canadian Cancer Society. He felt one of his greatest achievements was as a coordinator for the Terry Fox and Steve Fonyo cancer runs.
Norman was a longtime member and actively involved with Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed hunting, playing Bridge, fishing, politics, camping, tennis, swimming, meeting new people, and cooking.
He will always be remembered for his honesty, sense of humor and storytelling.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 20 2019, Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
