

He will be deeply missed by his wife Ying Tai Ng; daughter Brenda; grandchildren Evalynn (Tristan); and Lorelei; sister-in-law Lun Yun Chin; nephews Sam, Al and Jim and their families; brother Bing, sister Sherrine and families from Kelowna, B.C.; cousin Wing and family from Montreal, P.Q.
He was predeceased by his first wife Pamela and son Darryl.
Paul was born in Canton, China. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 and followed many generations of the males in his family by working in Canada. Paul was the first generation of his family to stay in Canada after retirement. He married Pamela in 1971. They started a family and had two children, and also raised three nephews. Pamela passed away in 2002. He married Ying Tai Ng in 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his family, babysitting his grandkids, cooking up a storm, giving his kids and grandkids cooking lessons, playing chess, going for dim sum, reading, cheering on the Bombers and the Jets. Paul, his brother and his father ran restaurants in Manitoba and Saskatchewan before he married Pamela. He was a devoted father and worked for Beachcomber restaurant when his kids were young. He also managed Kelowna Garden Restaurant in Kelowna, B.C and the restaurant at the Maryland Hotel later. He enjoyed and took great pride in his work.
A special thank you goes to the staff at ICU at St. Boniface Hospital for the kindness and compassion that was extended to both Paul and his family.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 22, at 10 am at Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Boniface Hospital.
