With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Ramon “Ray” Ralph Cosentino in the early hours of Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the age of 92.
Ray will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of over 69 years, Doreen Elizabeth Cosentino (Hagman), and his daughter-in-law, Sara Lynn Penner (Robert), nieces Cathy Olson (Doug) and Martina Cosentino (Robert), nephews Peter Cosentino (Victoria), Phillip Hagman (Lisa), John Hagman and Norman Hagman (Natalie). He also leaves behind numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cherished godchildren.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Jennie Cosentino (1989), his brother, August Cosentino (1992), and his beloved son, Darren Peter Joseph Cosentino (2016).
A dedicated draftsman, Ray spent over 30 years with CP Rail, a career that allowed him to enjoy more than 35 years of retirement filled with travel, adventure, and recreation. Alongside Doreen, he explored destinations across Asia, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, France, Italy and beyond. They were known for their warm hospitality, often hosting lively gatherings at their Princeton Blvd home, where they lovingly maintained a half-acre yard that won “Best Yard in Winnipeg” for several years. While Ray and Doreen took pride in their garden’s beauty, it was the laughter and lifelong memories shared with family and friends that made their home truly special. Darren would often joke about hoping visitors would stop by just so they could take a break from all the yard work!
Ray had a gift for conversation and loved nothing more than sharing a cold beer and good company. He was an avid follower of local news and sports, always ready to chat about the latest headlines or cheer on Winnipeg’s teams. His warmth, humor, and storytelling made him a favorite among friends old and new.
Following Darren’s passing in 2016, Ray and Doreen moved into The Wellington Assisted Living, where they found comfort, community, and continued to build meaningful friendships. Through every challenge, their love and strength remained unwavering.
A service, interment and reception will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd.
Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Wellington Assisted Living staff for their exceptional care and compassion over the past nine years. We are also deeply thankful for the many dear friends, family and godchildren who went above and beyond to keep Ray and Doreen connected and supported, especially in Ray’s final days. A special thank you to Penny Block for her love and care. Though Darren was an only child, he built friendships that became family, and we are forever grateful for that extended love.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Darren Cosentino Memorial Fund, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
Ray lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep connections—his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
