It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Sardar Ranbir Singh Deol who departed peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital surrounded by family on August 28, 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 101.
S. Ranbir Singh moved to Canada in 1978 and proudly called Winnipeg home for four decades. S. Ranbir Singh was preceded by his wife Surjit Kaur Deol who passed away in 1998. He is survived by his 3 sons (Gurdev Singh Deol, Surinder Singh Deol, Baldev Singh Deol) and their families, family of his late son S. Pritam Singh Deol, and 2 daughters (Gurdev Kaur Grewal and Amarjit Kaur Gill).
S. Ranbir Singh will be remembered for his selfless community work which included his commitment to the local Sikh community, leading the establishment of Singh Sabha Gurudwara on Sturgeon Road as a founding member. He was an entrepreneur from a very early age, running successful businesses in India which included Deol Cloth House and Deol General Store.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday Sept 1st at Thomson In the Park located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd and followed by Prayers at the Singh Sabha Gurudwara on Sturgeon Road.
