It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Richard Bernard Weekes at the tender age of 48 with his family by his side at the Health Science Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Richard leaves behind his wife Natasha, his sons Rashad, Rakeem, and his little baby boy RaMon along with his daughters Summer Breeze (Kyler), Nevaeh and his baby girl (grand daughter) Akoda and his forever friend Kathy-Ann. His mother Veronica, his father Charles Richard Harris a.k.a Big Andy, his brother Quincy, his sisters Linda, Sophia, and Natasha, his special friends; his bro for life, Oneal Harris, Garry and Debbie Hirsch, Chris and Yvonne Bellamy and all his close friends, his nieces and nephews.
Richard had one of the biggest hearts out there, he would give the shirt off his back if he had to. He was always there if someone needed help. Anyone that crossed paths with him, stated he was so kind, happy, funny, and always had something positive to say.
Richard was the proud owner of RN Landscaping Property Maintenance; he was so happy and eager to expand his business this coming season. During the off-season Richard worked with youth, as a Support Worker with a Child and Family Services Agency. Richard really cared and strived to instill positive teachings in the youth he worked with, he believed in each and every one of them, he wanted them to succeed. Richard will be missed by his family, his friends, and the youth he worked with.
A service and celebration of life for Richard will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Truth and Life Worship Center located at 51 Richfield Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Viewing will start at 10:00 a.m. with the service starting at 11:00 a.m., which will be officiated by Pastor Calvert Layne, and ending the service with an Indigenous Elder sending off Richard with a traditional traveling song. Richard loved learning his wife’s Indigenous Culture. Richard’s final feast will be served with some of his favorite food. The family is asking that everyone wear something “red” in honour of Richard as this was his favorite colour.
Richard’s final wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread in his home country of Barbados.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be sent to Sister McNamara Daycare at [email protected] in remembrance of Richard Weekes.
The family would like to and say thank you to Naotkamegwanning First Nation, Naotkamegwanning Health Services. Natasha’s village of friends that stepped up with the tremendous support and of course those who contributed to the Go Fund Me. We are so appreciative of everyone’s support, much love and respect to you all.
