The family of Bob Brownlee sadly announce his passing on June 23, 2012 at his residence at Lindenwood Terrace, Winnipeg.
Bob’s wife of 67 years, Jean, predeceased him on May 2, 2012.
Bob is survived by son Rod and his wife Dale Brownlee and daughter Debbie and her husband Gary Bullock. His grandchildren – who all called him “Bob” – Jamie (Salena) and Jason (Laura) Brownlee, Kendra (Darryl), Greg and Bryce Bullock and his great grandchildren Austin and Alex will all miss Bob’s insightful comments, subtle persuasions and firm handshake. Bob is also survived by his youngest sister Alice McLean of Barrie Ontario.
Bob was born in Woodbridge Ontario on October 14, 1918, one of 6 children. He served in the Royal Canadian Army in the Second World War, and upon discharge returned to his career in quality control at the Campbell Soup company in both Toronto (where he started and ended his career) and Portage la Prairie. Bob retired in 1983. Following retirement, Bob and Jean moved to Winnipeg to be nearer to family, living at the Courts of St. James for 24 years. Bob and Jean spent the last 5 years at Lindenwood Terrace where they enjoyed many good friends and the kindness and friendliness of the staff.
Special thank you to Glen and Marj Lowther for their many years of friendship and to Dr. Russell Albak for all his years of being Dad’s doctor.
Bob has always been considered by those that knew him as a “gentleman.”
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers or donations, Bob requests “Please raise a glass and toast a life long lived.”
